The cd for me feature a lot more power by the band and had the sound of a new era in the bands career.

3/5. I liked it, but I thought it sounded a little plain at times compared to the first four.

Don't get me wrong I like it,but there's a lack of the elements which were used in the previous albums.But there are some good songs,my favorite being Destination Departure.

And to say something positive,the photo-session is just stunning

4/5 - Ashes brought a new sound to the band, and Illumination was a direct follow-up of that sound in my eyes. Yet it missed that... special something which made its predecessor so amazing. However, there are still plenty of great songs on the album (Sacrilege, Fate, Deadlands... to name a few).

It's a great album, but I miss the darker elements of the previous four. Highlights for me were: Sanguine Sky, The Ravens, Sacrilege, and Deadlands. I agree that the promo pictures for this album were awesome.
